Families oftentimes have a hard time getting along. Children see that it was sometimes this way for the families in the Bible. In this lesson they learned practical ways to promote peace when it is possible and get along with family members.

The Bible material for this lesson is Jacob and Esau forgiving each other in Genesis 27; 31:2-3; 32-33. The Scripture memory passage is

“If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.” – Romans 12:18 HCSB

The students should come away learning that God wants them to treat family members with kindness. Some of the children will learn that God’s love helps them to consider how to love their family. And some kids will see that God wants them to show love, respect, cooperation, and consideration for everyone in their family.
